1. The Notebook
The Notebook is by far Nicholas Sparks's most known and most read body of work he has ever released. This is the story of a man, Noah, who returns from war to an older home in hopes of restoring it to look new. He is met with thoughts of a girl. Allie, whom he had met 14 years prior. To his surprise, she revisits his town and they meet again and this time this is the beginning of their love story.
The inspiration for this novel came from his wife's grandparents and their love story. The popularity of this book was otherworldly as it has over 1.6 million reviews on "Goodreads" with an average of over 4 stars. This was also made into a movie adaption which sold for over 116 million worldwide.
2. A Walk to Remember

With about 600 thousand reviews on GoodReads at around 4 stars "Dear John" comes in on our list at number 3. This novel is based in Wilmington, North Carolina following John who wasn't fond of school and dropped out to join the army. Unfortunately, he has to go on a military tour, and while away Savannah finds someone else and falls in love while John is back and still in love with her. A letter, "Dear John" is what breaks his heart and the story comes to a bittersweet ending.
4. The Last Song
One of the most popular stories in his catalog, Nicholas Sparks wrote The Last Song in hopes of giving a refreshing story for his readers to enjoy. Unlike many of his bodies of work, this story follows everyone's first type of love, the love between a child and a parent.
The story is about a 17-year-old girl, Veronica, whose parents are getting a divorce and her father moves to Wilmington, North Carolina from New York City. Now three years later her mother suggests that she go to Wilmington for the summer to spend time with her father. Here we see a deep father-daughter relationship bloom.
5. The Lucky One

While on a tour in Iraq, he digs up a picture of a woman and instead of throwing it to the side he keeps it with him. After some lucky strides of winning a big poker game and surviving near-death combat, he figures this picture is his good luck charm.
After he returns to Colorado he journeys to find this woman and after traveling multiple states he finds her, Elizabeth. He can't bring himself to tell her his secret and this may just destroy their love.
