The novel A Walk to Remember is said to be Nicholas Sparks's favorite book to write, so much so that it made him cry while writing it. This story follows a high school student, Landon Carter, in April of 1958. An unexpected turn of events occurs as Landon is paired with Jamie Sullivan to go to the homecoming dance.

Jamie is the daughter of the town's Baptist minister and she never had been in a romantic relationship while Landon has been in two and once in love, so he says.
